Participants: All Classroom Teachers, Counselors, Grades 7 – 12
“Resume Magic”
will help your students see the validity of your instruction. Translate
before your students’ eyes, the curriculum and skills you teach in the
classroom into the new Long Island resume format.
You will:
-
Master the techniques to train your students in
presenting their classroom learning with a dynamic resume.
-
Learn how to create the "New LI Resume" which can
be used for applying to colleges, internships, scholarships or running for
club officer positions.
The New York
Learning Standards calls for all educators to be able to provide a
connection between the classroom and post-secondary education and employment
world. Colleges and employers seek the validation of the core competencies
and learning standards. The new LI resume format performs the “cross-over”
from classroom to career. You can begin this process with our students as
early as grade 7.
You will be
called upon to:
-
Match the NYS Learning
Standards to the skills desired by colleges and employers.
-
Create three sample
resumes for your students: (1) Personal resume for community volunteer or
club officer positions, (2) College resume for scholarship and sports, and
(3) An internship/employment resume.)
