| This is an opportunity to have
first hand experience in the world of work beyond the classroom walls, so
that you have a good basis for advising your students on careers and/or
developing curricula. Educational programs such as Career Development
Occupational Standards, Career Planning, School-To–Career, Industry Advisory
Boards, Cooperative Work Experience and School/Industry partnerships will be
explored and related to your externship.
Open to teachers of all grades and subjects as
well as guidance counselors and pupil service professionals.
Learn employment skills and expectations that
you can share with your students by finding a summer externship on your own,
either for pay or as a public service, and working at it for a minimum of 40
hours. Assistance will be given to those who need to identify an externship
mentor.
