Cyberspace Textbook

  •  3 credits - 45 Hours

Bring the "real world" into your classroom. Create an exciting virtual textbook for your students. This course will assist secondary teachers in creating a "virtual" or living textbook for a specific curriculum or guidance program. Participants will choose a course they are currently instructing and match internet resource sites to each topic in the course outline. The end result will be the textbook for the 21st century: a dynamic webpage of sites to be used for the advancement of student and teacher knowledge.

This course will enable you to:

  • Match your course outline with Internet sites and create a virtual textbook.
  • Utilize search engines to find curriculum connections.
  • Enrich your daily lessons by reaching out to on-line libraries, corporations, trade and professional associations, book publishers and government sites.
  • Find simulation activities and create academic scavenger hunts.

You supply the curriculum outline and appropriate Internet links.  I create the page for you and publish it to our TeacherSmarts website.  See sample teachers' pages here.  Group 1Group 2,   Group 3

What are teachers saying about..................
  • Thanks...your comments are much appreciated!  I was on vacation last week, but I'm back now, and I would surely like to do a scavenger hunt.  I'll get started on it tomorrow. By the way,  the pictures really jazzed up the page.  I can't wait to use it this Fall.  I appreciate this course because it was 1) relevant 2) fun 3) resulted in a practical product I can use and  4) I learned many things!  Got my money's worth...thanks!
  • Thank you so much for all your help.  This was a fantastic learning experience.  I will definitely put it to good use my sites and also the other sites I've printed from the class.  Hope you enjoy your summer.
  • Thanks so much-I truly enjoyed the class!
